|
The Town of Farmington was incorporated in 1645. Known as the "Mother Town", Farmington was partitioned into the towns of Avon, Bristol, Plainville, New Britain, Berlin, Southington, and Burlington. This history is reflected in the Town Seal. Today, Farmington comprises 28.7 square miles along the Farmington River.
Farmington, CT is a residential suburb in the Hartford Metropolitan area that has retained its distinctive character through maintenance of its historic district and careful land use planning for the future. From the Farmington Valley Greenway where you can walk or bike the scenic trails, to first class art at the Hill-Stead Museum, there are numerous activities for both residents and visitors to Farmington.

The Governor's Horse Guards

First Company Governor's Horse Guards is the oldest continuously active mounted cavalry unit in the United States. Troop drills every Thursday night are open to the public. Founded in 1788 by Hartford veterans of the Revolutionary War. Come by and see the beautiful horses.
